Tour of Spain – 2010

Tour of Spain 2010

Spain the home of Flamenco music and dance, bullfights, sunshine and for 18 days two British cyclists. Cycling the length of Spain from Bilbao to Gibraltar, from 19th June 2010 to 8th July 2010, 982 hilly miles for the NSPCC charity.

  • An epic Spanish cycling expedition
  • Two adventurous young men (well we feel young and adventurous)
  • Hours of cycle training building two perfectly toned bottoms
  • Using all our British cunning to seek out real ale equivalents
  • Cycling from Bilbao to Gibraltar with suntan lotion
  • Getting up at 6AM to avoid the midday sun
  • Communicating with the Spanish phrase book and pointing

Section 1 – Coast to Coast

  • Day 1 – Bilboa – Victoria Gasteiz Mileage = 47.7Miles Hard
  • Day 2 – Victoria Gasteiz – Logrona Mileage = 38.2Miles Hard
  • Day 3 – Logrona – Tudela Mileage = 61 Miles Easy
  • Day 4 – Tudela – La Almunia de Dona Godina Mileage = 56.5 Miles Med
  • Day 5- La Almunia de Dona Godina – Monreal del Campo Mileage = 56.9Miles Hard
  • Day 6- Monreal del Campo – Sarrion Mileage = 68.4 Miles Easy
  • Day 7- Sarrion – Nova Canel Mileage = 58.3 Miles Easy

Section 1 – Bilboa to Sagunto Coast to Coast = 7 Days 387 Hilly Miles

Section 2 – Mediterranean Coast

  • Day 8- Nova Canet – Platja De Miramar Mileage = 71.2 Miles Easy
  • Day 9- Platja De Miramar – Benidorm Mileage = 57 Miles Med
  • Day 10- Benidorm – Torrevieja Mileage = 59.5 Miles Med
  • Day 11- Torrevieja – Cartagena Mileage = 37.4 Miles Easy
  • Day 12- Categena – Aguilas Mileage = 52.6 Miles Hard
  • Day 13- Aguilas – Carboneras Mileage = 41.3 Miles Hard
  • Day 14- Carboneras – Roquetas de Mar Mileage = 57.1 Miles – Hard
  • Day 15- Roquetas de Mar – Salobrena Mileage = 65.3 Miles Med
  • Day 16- Salobrena – Malaga Mileage = 56.1 Miles Med
  • Day 17- Malaga – Marbella Mileage = 37.2 Miles Easy
  • Day 18- Marbella – Gibraltar Mileage = 60.7 Miles Easy

Section 2 – Sagunto to Gibraltar – Mediterranean Coast = 11 days 595.4 Coastal Miles

TOTAL Mileage = 982.4 Miles
